Many thanks to Haig Point Foundation for their very early support of Daufuskie Island Independent School. Haig Point Foundation became the first monetary supporter of the concept of DIIS. Recognizing the immense potential for good a middle school on-island would be, Haig Point Foundation awarded DIIS a $5000 matching grant on the first $10,000 raised. Their grant was matched by an anonymous parent at $10,000 on DIIS’s first $10,000 raised. From the generous donations of the Daufuskie elementary and middle school community, DIIS raised the $10,000 necessary and captured the additional $15,000 in matching grants, helping cover start-up costs.
With gratitude for the early support of the parent community and Haig Point Foundation, DIIS is excited to begin its broader fundraising initiatives that will support the school’s opening this fall of 2023.
