South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) officially recognizes Daufuskie Island Independent School as an affiliate member. Membership in SCISA is an important step toward accreditation and allows DIIS students to participate in the SCISA Athletic Conference. Furthermore, it signifies that the State of South Carolina recognizes DIIS as a registered school and that the State’s student attendance requirements are satisfied by enrolling in and attending DIIS.
During the start-up and development processes, DIIS and SCISA have been working together to ensure DIIS is on track to meet the requirements for becoming a fully accredited school. Full accreditation is commonly achieved 18 – 24 months after a new school’s opening. DIIS is grateful for SCISA’s early support and guidance.
